Zola (2021)

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Zola is seductive cinema.

I don’t remember a single one of the infamous Zola tweets in detail but I remember the basic story. It feels like Twitter has evolved 10 times since 2015 and this very story may have sparked the general idea of what a Twitter thread is.

But Janicza Bravos movie adaptation of the story kicks some sexy ass.

It features an intimate cast of familiar faces who act their asses off and that awesome sound design, my god does it damn near has its own sex with our ears.

Zola is a uniquely creative movie adaptation of what was nothing more than a string of tweets that would’ve gotten nowhere had it not gone viral. But it did because this was one story that was worth reading and is now worth watching.
